Version 1.0 · About 15 minutes to read

What changed in this version: this is the first version.

This policy sets out what you may and may not sell, upload and do on ShopyCore. It is part of the ShopyCore Terms and Conditions, and you accept it separately. Words defined in the Terms and Conditions have the same meaning here, and the reading rules in section 1.4 of the Terms and Conditions also apply here, including the rule that the Arabic version's masculine form covers women and men.

We publish this policy in Arabic and English, with the same meaning. If the two versions ever differ, the [PREVAILING LANGUAGE — to be confirmed] version applies, as set out in section 26 of the Terms and Conditions.

Key points

What does this policy cover?
Everything you sell or offer through ShopyCore, everything you or your team upload or enter, and how you use ShopyCore.

What must I never sell?
Illegal, unauthorised or counterfeit products, and the other prohibited products in sections 3 and 4. You must also never sell alcohol, or any other product listed in section 5 under ShopyCore's religious content rules.

What must I never upload?
Content that breaks ShopyCore's religious content rules, including images of women with uncovered hair (section 6), and the other content in section 8.

Are the content standards a religious ruling?
No. They are ShopyCore's own platform rules. They are not a religious ruling (fatwa) and not a statement of the law (section 2).

Who is responsible if my store breaks the rules?
You are, including your own religious accountability. ShopyCore keeps its own responsibilities too (section 11).

What happens if my store breaks the rules?
We normally tell you what is wrong and give you time to fix it. We may remove items, restrict features, suspend your store or close it permanently. For illegal, dangerous or fraudulent problems, or a deliberate repeat breach after a warning, we can act straight away (section 13.3).

Can I challenge a decision?
Yes. Ask for a review through the Support & Feedback page (section 14).

Not sure if something is allowed?
Ask us through Support & Feedback before you list or upload it.

1. About this policy

1.1 What this policy covers

This policy applies to:

  1. every product and service you sell, offer, advertise or give away through ShopyCore, online or in in-store sales you record in ShopyCore; and
  2. all content you or your team upload or enter anywhere in your store. This includes product names, descriptions, images and videos, variant images, category and brand images, banners, logos, theme and appearance images, your store name, domain names, coupons and promotional text, invoices, and messages to your customers.

1.2 The lists are examples

The lists in this policy are examples. They do not cover every case. If you are not sure whether something is allowed, ask us through Support & Feedback before you list or upload it.

1.3 Other rules may also apply

Your payment provider, delivery company and other partners may have stricter rules than ours. You must follow their rules too.

1.4 This is not legal advice

This policy explains ShopyCore's rules. It is not legal advice. Following it does not guarantee that your store meets every law that applies to your business. You are responsible for checking the laws that apply to your products.

2. ShopyCore's content standards

2.1 What they are

ShopyCore applies its own content standards to every store on the platform. Some of them reflect religious and cultural values that ShopyCore has chosen for its business; these are ShopyCore's religious content rules. They are ShopyCore's platform rules, and following them is a condition of using ShopyCore.

The content standards are not a statement of Egyptian law. They are not a religious ruling (fatwa). ShopyCore does not issue fatwas or other religious rulings, and applying these standards is not a judgment about anyone's faith.

2.2 They apply even when something is lawful

The content standards apply to every store in the same way. They apply even when a product or image is lawful in Egypt or elsewhere, and even if you hold a licence to sell the product.

2.3 How we apply them

We apply the content standards based on what can be seen in the product or content. We do not ask about your religion or anyone else's, and we do not record it.

2.4 Where they are set out

The content standards are set out in section 5 (products) and section 6 (images and videos). We will add or change a content standard only by publishing a new version of this policy, as explained in section 17.

3. Illegal, unauthorised and counterfeit products

You must not sell, offer, advertise, list or give away any of the following.

3.1 Illegal products

Any product or service that is illegal to sell, own, import, advertise or deliver in Egypt, or in the place where you sell or deliver it. This includes smuggled goods and goods brought into Egypt without the clearance the law requires.

3.2 Unauthorised products

  • Products that need a licence, registration or approval you do not have (section 7).
  • Products you do not own or do not have the right to sell.
  • Stolen goods.
  • Products that have been recalled or found unsafe.

3.3 Counterfeit and infringing products

  • Fake or imitation branded goods, including goods described as "replica", "mirror original", "first copy", "high copy" or "inspired by" that use another brand's name, logo or design without permission.
  • Pirated software, films, music, books, games or other digital content.
  • Any product that uses another person's trademark, design or copyrighted work without permission, including in product names, images and advertising.

Selling goods with fake trademarks can also be a crime in Egypt.

3.4 Stolen data and access

  • Personal data, customer lists or contact lists obtained without the people's consent.
  • Bank card or payment data, passwords, or access to other people's accounts.

3.5 Other prohibited products

The products listed in sections 4 and 5.

4. Other products you must not sell

You must not sell, offer, advertise, list or give away any of the following, even if you have a licence for them.

  1. Weapons: firearms, air and gas-pressure guns, ammunition, weapon parts, explosives, fireworks, and knives or other items designed or sold as weapons.
  2. Drugs: narcotics, psychoactive substances, and products for using them.
  3. Medicines: medicines of any kind, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, and products that claim to treat, cure or prevent disease, unless the competent authority has approved that claim for that product.
  4. Antiquities: antiquities, archaeological objects and other protected cultural property.
  5. Surveillance and interference devices: drones, signal jammers, and devices for secretly recording or intercepting other people.
  6. Hacking tools: malware and tools or services for getting into computers, accounts or devices without permission.
  7. Financial services: cryptocurrency, electronic money, payment or money-transfer services, currency exchange, and investment schemes.
  8. Gambling: betting, lotteries, games of chance for money or prizes, and paid "mystery" or "luck" boxes that work like gambling.
  9. Sexually explicit material: pornography and other sexually explicit products or material.
  10. Human body parts: human organs, tissue or other body parts.
  11. Fake documents: fake or stolen identity documents, certificates, official documents, or official uniforms and badges.

5. Products not allowed under ShopyCore's content standards

5.1 Alcohol

Under ShopyCore's religious content rules, you must not sell, offer, advertise, list or give away alcohol on ShopyCore. This includes alcoholic drinks of any kind or strength, such as beer, wine and spirits, and gift sets or bundles that include an alcoholic drink.

This rule applies even if you hold a licence to sell alcohol, and even where selling alcohol is lawful.

5.2 If you are not sure

If you are not sure whether a product is covered, for example a drink sold as "alcohol-free" that imitates an alcoholic drink, ask us through Support & Feedback before you list it.

6. Content not allowed under ShopyCore's content standards

6.1 Images of women with uncovered hair

Under ShopyCore's religious content rules, you must not upload or publish images or videos that show a woman whose hair is uncovered.

6.2 Where this applies

This rule applies to every image and video in your store, including:

  • product and variant images and videos;
  • banners and sliders;
  • category and brand images;
  • your logo, and theme and appearance images;
  • images in product descriptions and promotional content; and
  • images in invoices and messages to your customers.

6.3 Ways to show your products that meet this rule

  • Photograph the product on its own, for example laid flat, on a hanger or on a stand.
  • Use a headless mannequin or dress form.
  • Use models whose hair is fully covered.
  • Crop the image so that no woman's uncovered hair is shown.

6.4 If you are not sure

If you are not sure whether an image meets this rule, ask us through Support & Feedback before you publish it.

7. Products that need a licence or approval

Some products may be sold only with a licence, registration or approval. Examples include:

  • food and drinks (other than alcohol, which is never allowed);
  • food supplements and vitamins;
  • cosmetics and personal care products;
  • medical devices and health products that are not medicines;
  • telecom and radio equipment, including mobile phones; and
  • pesticides and hazardous chemicals.

You may sell these products only if:

  1. you hold every licence, registration and approval the law requires;
  2. the product meets the labelling and safety rules that apply to it;
  3. you show any registration details the law requires your customers to see; and
  4. you give us copies of your licences and approvals when we ask.

We may ask you to remove a product while we check.

8. Other content you must not publish

You must not upload, publish or send content that:

  1. breaks Egyptian law, or the law of the place where you sell;
  2. is sexually explicit or shows nudity;
  3. sexualises, exploits or endangers children in any way;
  4. promotes hatred, violence, terrorism or self-harm, or threatens anyone;
  5. harasses people, or makes false statements that damage a person's or business's reputation;
  6. shares other people's personal data, private information or images without their consent;
  7. shows real people, such as models, without their permission;
  8. is misleading, such as fake reviews or testimonials, false health claims, or false claims of endorsement or official approval;
  9. pretends to be another person, brand, business, government body or ShopyCore, including through a store name or domain name that is confusingly similar to a brand you do not own; or
  10. contains malware, phishing pages, links to harmful websites, or forms that collect passwords or card details.

9. Honest selling and fair treatment of customers

You must:

  1. describe your products, prices, stock and delivery times accurately, and use images that show the actual product;
  2. not show fake or inflated "before" prices or fake discounts, and not hide fees;
  3. show the full price, including delivery, before a customer places an order;
  4. honour the offers you show, including coupons and free-delivery offers;
  5. not use storefront terms or messages that remove or reduce your customers' legal rights;
  6. not take orders or payments for products you cannot or do not intend to supply;
  7. not run pyramid schemes, or schemes that pay mainly for recruiting other people;
  8. follow the law for prize draws and contests, including telling the Consumer Protection Agency before you advertise one;
  9. use your customers' data only for your store, never sell it, send marketing only to customers who have agreed to receive it, and stop when they ask; and
  10. respond to your customers' complaints.

10. Using ShopyCore fairly and securely

You and your team must not:

  1. access, or try to access, another store's data or accounts;
  2. test, probe or get around ShopyCore's security without our written permission. If you find a security weakness, report it through Support & Feedback;
  3. upload malware, attack ShopyCore or other people, or overload the service;
  4. copy data from ShopyCore in bulk with automated tools, except through tools we provide;
  5. get around plan limits, locked features, read-only mode, or payment confirmation and activation, for example through direct technical requests;
  6. open extra accounts or stores to get more free trial time, or to get around a suspension or closure;
  7. misuse sign-in codes, SMS, WhatsApp or email features, for example by sending unwanted messages or requesting codes for people who did not ask for them;
  8. share sign-in details between people;
  9. resell, rent or sublicense ShopyCore without our written agreement, or copy, decompile or take apart the software except as the law allows;
  10. send false payment receipts or false claims of payment;
  11. send abusive messages, spam or harmful files through Support & Feedback; or
  12. use ShopyCore to store files that have nothing to do with your store.

11. Your responsibility

11.1 You are responsible for your store

You are responsible for everything sold, uploaded or sent through your store, by you or by your team, and for any breach of this policy, even if a team member caused it. This does not include changes made by ShopyCore staff during a support session (section 6.5 of the Terms and Conditions), or messages that ShopyCore writes and sends automatically, such as its standard order notifications.

11.2 Your religious accountability

You are responsible for the products you sell and the content you upload, and for any breach of these rules. That includes your own religious accountability for them. Accepting this policy does not pass that accountability to ShopyCore. ShopyCore's decisions about your store are platform decisions, not religious judgments.

11.3 ShopyCore keeps its own responsibilities

Your responsibility does not mean ShopyCore has none. ShopyCore remains responsible for applying this policy fairly, consistently and with reasons, for acting on problems it is told about, and for its commitments and legal duties described in the Terms and Conditions (section 20). Accepting this policy does not remove any of them.

12. How we check stores

12.1 We do not check everything in advance

We do not check every product or image before it is published.

12.2 We may review at any time

We may review any store, product or content at any time, for example after a report, after an automated check, or as part of a routine check.

12.3 A person reviews suspension and closure decisions

Before we suspend or permanently close a store, a person on our team reviews the case.

13. What we do when rules are broken

13.1 A response that fits the problem

We choose a response that fits the problem. We consider how serious it is, whether it was deliberate, the harm it could cause, and your store's history.

13.2 What we normally do

Normally:

  1. we tell you which rule was broken, which product or content is involved, what you need to fix, and by when;
  2. we give you [REMEDY PERIOD — to be confirmed] to fix it;
  3. if it is not fixed, we may remove or hide the product or content;
  4. we may restrict features, for example adding new products;
  5. we may suspend your store; and
  6. for serious or repeated breaches, we may close your store permanently.

We skip steps only in the cases listed in section 13.3.

13.3 When we act straight away

We may remove or hide a product or content, restrict features, or suspend your store without warning you first when:

  1. the product or content is illegal, including counterfeit goods;
  2. content sexualises, exploits or endangers children;
  3. there is a serious risk to people's health, safety or security;
  4. there is fraud, phishing, or misuse of stolen data or other people's data;
  5. a court or competent authority requires it;
  6. you deliberately repeat a breach of ShopyCore's content standards after we have told you to fix it; or
  7. a person or business whose store we closed permanently opens a new store without our written agreement.

For a breach of ShopyCore's content standards that is not also illegal, we act straight away only by removing or hiding the item, unless the breach is a deliberate repeat after a warning.

We close a store permanently without the notice in section 17.6 of the Terms and Conditions only when a court or competent authority requires it, or for fraud, phishing, or content that sexualises, exploits or endangers children. In every other case we give that notice first, even if we have already suspended the store.

When we act straight away, we will tell you what we did and why as soon as we can, unless the law or an authority prevents us.

13.4 Suspension is not read-only mode

Read-only mode happens only because a subscription payment has not been confirmed, and it leaves your storefront online. A suspension under this policy is stricter: your storefront is offline, customers cannot order, and you cannot sign in to Merchant Admin. A suspension does not delete your data.

13.5 Permanent closure

We may close a store permanently for serious or repeated breaches. We will tell you in writing, with our reasons. What happens to your data and to prepaid fees is explained in sections 17 and 18 of the Terms and Conditions. You may not open a new store after a permanent closure without our written agreement. This applies to you, and to any business you control or act for.

13.6 Repeated infringement

We may permanently close a store that we have found, after review, to have sold counterfeit goods or infringed other people's rights more than once.

13.7 Records

We keep a record of each decision and our reasons.

14. Asking for a review

14.1 How to ask

If you think we made a wrong decision about your store, ask for a review through Support & Feedback, choosing the "Complaint" topic, within [REVIEW REQUEST WINDOW — to be confirmed] after we tell you about the decision.

14.2 What to include

Tell us which decision you are asking about and why you think it is wrong. Include any evidence, such as a licence, proof that a product is genuine, permission from a rights owner, or a corrected image.

14.3 Who reviews it

Where possible, a person who was not involved in the original decision reviews your request.

14.4 The outcome

We will tell you the outcome and our reasons within [REVIEW RESPONSE TIME — to be confirmed]. If we got it wrong, we will restore your content or reactivate your store as soon as we can. While we review, our decision stays in place unless we decide otherwise.

14.5 If you cannot reach Support & Feedback

If you cannot reach Support & Feedback, for example because your store is suspended or you can use only your Subscription page (section 24.1 of the Terms and Conditions), contact us at [SUPPORT CONTACT WHEN SUPPORT & FEEDBACK IS UNAVAILABLE — to be confirmed].

14.6 Your other rights

Asking for a review does not affect your other legal rights.

15. Reporting a problem

15.1 How to report

  • Merchants: use Support & Feedback.
  • Anyone else, such as brand owners or customers: contact [CONTENT AND IP COMPLAINTS CONTACT — to be confirmed].

15.2 Reports about trademarks, copyright and other rights

Please include:

  1. your name and contact details;
  2. the right you hold, such as a registered trademark or copyright;
  3. where the content is, such as the store address and the product link;
  4. why you believe it infringes your right; and
  5. a statement that the information in your report is accurate.

We may share the report with the merchant so they can respond. We may remove the content while we look into it.

15.3 Complaints about an order

Customers with a complaint about an order should contact the store first, because the merchant is the seller. Customers keep their rights under Egyptian consumer protection law.

15.4 False reports

Do not make reports you know to be false.

16. Cooperating with authorities

We may report illegal activity to the competent authorities. We may keep or share information, remove content or block access where Egyptian law, a court or a competent authority lawfully requires it.

17. Changes to this policy

17.1 Versions

Each version of this policy has a version number and an effective date. We never change a published version, and we keep every earlier version. The Terms & Policies page in Merchant Admin shows the version you accepted.

17.2 Important changes

A change to the content standards, or any change that restricts what you may sell or upload, is an important change. We will tell you at least [NOTICE PERIOD FOR MATERIAL CHANGES — to be confirmed] before it takes effect, by email to your store's owner account (if it has an email address) and in Merchant Admin, and explain what is changing. From the effective date, you must accept the new version to keep using Merchant Admin normally. Until the store owner accepts, you can do only what section 19.3 of the Terms and Conditions describes. Continuing to use ShopyCore does not count as accepting an important change.

17.3 Urgent changes

If the law requires a change, or there is an urgent safety, security or fraud reason, we may shorten the notice in section 17.2. We will explain the change as soon as we can. You still need to accept an important change before it binds you, except to the extent that the law itself imposes it.

17.4 Minor changes

For minor changes, such as fixing typing errors or adding or updating ShopyCore's contact details, we publish a new version with a note of what changed. You do not need to accept it again. Filling in or changing any other detail of this policy that had not been settled when you accepted it, such as a period, is an important change and is handled as section 17.2 describes.

18. Contact

  • Questions, reports and review requests: the Support & Feedback page in Merchant Admin.
  • Reports from people who are not merchants: [CONTENT AND IP COMPLAINTS CONTACT — to be confirmed].
  • Formal legal notices: [OFFICIAL NOTICE EMAIL — to be confirmed], [REGISTERED ADDRESS — to be confirmed].
